EARN YOUR M.Ed. INTERNATIONALLY!

Master’s in Education with Your Choice of Specialisation

ECIS is pleased to partner with the TEACH-NOW Graduate School of Education in order to offer you an affordable, flexible pathway to earn a Master’s in Education, including key specialisations for internationally-minded schools, from an accredited university. What’s more, if you are seeking a teacher qualification, why not complete that at the same time, all in one place?

  • Early Childhood: Candidates will delve into the full spectrum of early childhood education from birth through age eight (8), and the programmes within that range–infant and toddler programmes, preschool and daycare programmes, kindergarten programmes, and primary education. They will create positive learning environments to enhance student motivation and creativity. Candidates will develop pedagogical approaches that take into account learner commonalities and differences to design goal-oriented instruction and assessment based on cognitive, social, affective, and psychomotor factors.
  • Teaching Multilingual Learners: Candidates will be prepared to effectively teach linguistically-diverse student populations in the classroom. Through this programme, candidates will learn fundamental concepts about language, language development, and culturally-linguistically diverse populations. They will also learn pedagogical principles and approaches for integrating language instruction across multiple domains of linguistic development — reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary — in a variety of educational contexts, with special focus on assessing and giving feedback to learners and developing strategies for language-supported classroom learning.
  • Special Education Needs: Candidates will research current trends, issues, and political dilemmas in special education and how they impact learning and teaching of students with special needs. They will examine the role of the educator in accurately identifying students with special needs and using appropriate strategies, available services, resources, and assistive technologies to design goal-oriented instruction and evaluation of students with special needs. Candidates will evaluate various behaviour and education plans to design the individualised plans for education and assessment of students with special needs. Graduates will be prepared to teach and support special needs students at any grade/year level.
  • Globalisation in Education: Candidates will attain a deep understanding of international education and globalisation in order to make positive change in the dynamic global context in schools worldwide. In order to meet the needs of diverse student populations in international schools, and attain socially responsible leadership, candidates will learn how to make informed and ethical decisions in complex and diverse educational environments.
  • Educational Research: Candidates will dig deep into the educational research process, methods of collecting and analysing research data, practical and ethical considerations when conducting research such as funding, working with human subjects and using research to influence educational policy decisions and development. Candidates will choose an area of educational research and complete a capstone research project, which will include a written submission and an oral defence of their findings.
  • (NEW!) Educational Leadership: This twelve-month programme is designed for candidates who wish to become a Principal, Head of School, Assistant Principal, or other administrative school leader anywhere in the world. The curriculum incorporates the Professional Standards for Education Leaders (PSEL) and a six-month internship in school administration. Candidates will learn about day-to-day school operations, management and compliance, strategic planning, budgeting, and scheduling. They will delve deeper into how to develop and encourage school-wide student learning and achievement; hire, train, and mentor teachers; as well as assess risks, plan for emergencies, and develop a school improvement plan for the community in which they live. This program does not include teacher certification coursework.

ECIS and TEACH-NOW are seeking applications from current and prospective teachers who want to be trained in a collaborative, project-based model and be prepared to teach tomorrow’s students for tomorrow’s learning world.
