Many schools celebrate the linguistic diversity in their community on the UNESCO Mother Language Day in February. Come and hear how colleagues from around the world do it!
Secondary multilingual learners
How do you prepare an older multilingual learner for the linguistic demands of the IB Diploma/equivalent of end of secondary schooling?
Let’s hear how we use translanguaging across language classrooms: main/subject classrooms, host country classrooms, and second language classrooms.
What does a good language policy look like? Who writes it? How do you turn the policy into reality?
Assessment of language progress
What tools do you use to measure progress (or make placement/exit decisions)? How is this shared with the wider community? How often do you assess?
Transitions and collaborations
How do you manage the transition of multilingual learners from primary to secondary school? How do you collaborate and communicate with admissions, SEN, subject/classroom teachers?
