
Creating Inclusive Classrooms for LGBTQ+ Youth

Audience: The presentation will be more applicable for Secondary (6-12) Educators – teachers, counselors, admin, staff – but all are welcome ๐
Join us for an interactive session for an introduction to common terms, pronouns, and respectful language to help us navigate our work with LGBTQ+ students. We will chat about heteronormativity, cisnormativity, gender and sexuality, representation, and most importantly, how to support students by creating safe and inclusive environments for them in your classrooms!
ABOUT THE FACILITATOR
Shruti Patel, MEd, NCC is a fourth-year school counsellor working at Metropolitan School Frankfurt in Germany. She completed her Bachelor in Psychology, Master of Education in School Counselling, and Graduate Certificate in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the University of Georgia. For the past three years, she has worked as a school counsellor and college counsellor in El Salvador. In her spare time, she enjoys travelling, true crime podcasts/TV, and a good cup of tea.
