Jawhara Al-Thani
Jawhara Al-Thani is the Head of Wellbeing and Safeguarding at Qatar Foundation. With a background in Sociology of Education and Cultural Studies, AlJawhara’s work focuses on the importance of unpacking bias and creating opportunities to develop authentic relationships with the community and context in which schools operate.
In this Canversation, Jawhara will be talking about Child Protection in the context of Intercultural Communication or Cultural Relativism. She will be reflecting on the importance of developing our sensitivities about how to explore and balance different perspectives surrounding our understanding of abuse, and our obligation to keep students safe. It opens the door to conversations about our own cultural biases and the ways we can move forward in partnership with our school community.
