Art Project to Be Presented to Children in March

Last November at the ECIS conference in Nice, France over 1,000 people participated in a very special “art installation” event …a gluing party for the “What Goes Around Comes Around” mosaic mural project.

The concept for the project was the brain child of ECIS art committee member, teacher and founder of, Stacey Wilson-McMahon and pediatric oncologist Dr. Christine Soler of the Archet 2 Hospital in Nice. The children of Dr. Soler’s cancer ward came up with the name for their ward and began designs for a mosaic mural that would travel to the art students of Ana Maria Cruz at the American International School of Budapest and several young artists in Paris before returning to Nice for the ECIS Conference. At the conference attendees had the chance to participate by gluing small glass tiles onto the collaborative designs of children from these three cities.

Jean Vahey, ECIS Executive Director, was the first to place tiles, followed by volunteers of the French association “Les Blouses Roses”, over 1,000 ECIS attendees. In two days over 10,000 tiles were glued. The mosaic mural was completed at the end of the conference and given back to the hospital at the Awards Ceremony to Dr. Soler. It was a wonderful example of people from around the world to create art together for a common cause to give back to the local children Nice.

It will be presented to the children of the L’Archet 2 hospital in Nice on March 18.
