The mission of Education Across Frontiers Staff Development Center is to support the development of international school teachers and administrators in becoming effective leaders of adult learning. Specifically, the EAF courses examine theories of adult learning, strategies for effective workshop presentations and leadership skills for developing professional learning communities. EAF is a private, not for profit organization. EAF covers expenses and pays salaries, but there are no shareholder dividends.

For the past two years Education Across Frontiers (EAF) has hosted a Staff Development Center each summer at the International School of Kuala Lumpur. In 2013 the EAF Staff Development Center will move to the International School of Genoa and the Directors (Bill and Ochan Powell) would like to offer a full tuition scholarship to a teacher from an ECIS member school. They hope that this would be an annual scholarship called the "ECIS EAF Teacher Leadership Scholarship".

The scholarship will be for the tuition, books, lunches and coffee breaks. The applicant will need to have the support of his or her school in terms of providing for the expenses for transportation and accommodation. It will be open to staff from Full Member ECIS schools only. The applications will be reviewed by the ECIS Board in April each year and the successful applicant selected by them based on a recommendation from a subcommittee of the ECIS Board. ECIS will then notify the successful and unsuccessful applicants and EAF.

Application Process:
ECIS will advertise the ECIS EAF Teacher Leadership Scholarship on an ongoing basis on our website throughout the year. In November each year ECIS will circulate specific details along with an application form for that year’s program.
Applications must include:

  1. A letter of recommendation by the head of school of a Full Member ECIS School;
  2. The applicant’s current CV or resume;
  3. A letter from applicant describing past or current commitment and interest to the professional learning of self and colleagues;
  4. A clear indication that the applicant is in a position of educational leadership or about to assume one (admin, coordinator, coach, team leader or department chair) and will continue working in this post for at least another 12 months.

The application deadline will be 15th March each year.

ECIS will announce the Scholarship winner generally during the first week of May each year.
