Peter Ustinov Outreach Award
ECIS recently entered into a partnership with the Peter Ustinov Foundation to provide further funding for outreach projects at ECIS member schools. The foundation, since its inception by Ustinov in 1999, backs commendable aid initiatives . Its mission is to help children in need, children who are often the victims of prejudice.

The selection committee of the Sir Peter Ustinov Foundation has awarded four grants for 2009-10 as follows:
St George`s British International School, Italy
“Building beyond boundaries – 2010 Zambia trip” (Community Playground Project) - Orphanage in Serenje, Zambia
Charity called "Zambian Orphans Appeal" (ZOA) - orphanage adopted by the school. 15 students and teachers to go to Zambia to build and provide a playground for use of all children in the local area, thus increasing awareness and goodwill towards the orphanage and children . Motivating local tradesmen to maintain the playground by involving them from the begining. Past trips in 2006 & 2008. In Summer 2009 the land for playground was obtained.
Buyk Kolej, Turkey
Family Tree - Buyuk Kolej
Family Tree Project - A project for homeless and ill children in the local area around the school. School cultivating trees and planting them in orphanages. Funds for small giftsand transportation for homeless and ill children and to hold a party for the children from local orphanges. Funds to expand the school greenhouse, purchase garden tools, seeds and soil.
Eyuboglu High School, Turkey
Making Friends with Autistic Peers and Helping Them Enjoy Social Life
Local initiative in the area of the school. Helping Autistic children spend time with peers at the Eyuboglu High school. Integrating local children and increasing understanding between school students and local autistic children - awareness of autism. Working with OMAD charity/organisation of parents of autistic children. Funds for party, museum visit, sports matches and home visits.
Sotogrande International School, Spain
Providing a Community Area Seva Trust, Goa, India. 5 year Sotogrande International School project for Seva orphanage. Funds to build a community/play area for orphans and the local community to straddle castes and ethnic background barriers. A large proportion of the orphans at the Seva Trust Orphanage are rescued female orphans saved from female infanticide which is prevalent in India. SIS School teachers, students and parents have been on 4 past trips to the project to follow up and help on ongoing work.
