ECIS Outreach Program

for the promotion of international education and community service

ECIS schools, their staff and students are characterized by knowledge of, and respect for, their own values and those of others. The ECIS Outreach Program has been developed to encourage and support a wide range of diverse student projects and activities within ECIS member schools as part of service learning. ECIS is committed to promoting cross-cultural awareness and understanding, tolerance and international education amongst member schools and their communities in all regions of the world.

2009/2010 Projects

The International School of Florence, Italy
Tanzania Project, Moshi
To support selected state schools - To support WATU registered Charity (Peoples Participation in education) - To provide scholarships into secondary schooling for students. Previous visit 2008. Grant applied for 2010 trip for 15 students to work on building work at local school and provide teacher training and a scholarship for next 4 years.

International School of Luxembourg, Luxembourg
Moshi, Tanzania
Moshi in North Tanzania. ISL project in its 9th year. 2 groups of 15 students to go out and help local builders construct a dormitory for girls to be able to go to school. School: Second Chance Education Centre. ISL students to teach in elementary and secondary schools whilst out there. Phase 3 to begin 2009/10.

Sotogrande International School, Spain
Improving Educational Environments at SEVA Orphanage, Goa
Seva Trust, Goa, India. 5 year Sotogrande Int. School project for Seva Orphanage. Improving educational environment for 75 chilldren. Improvement to buildings and teaching resources. 20 students, parents and teachers to travel out to Goa and help on the project.

Frankfurt International School, Germany
Training of a Librarian
Kalahaari Libraries. To pay for cost of VISA application and flight ticket for Librarian from Kalahari Project to travel to FIS to train and learn new "Destiny System" as donated by Follett (supporting member of ECIS) 4-5 wk stay with teachers and parents at FIS and attendance at ECIS 2009 Hamburg November conference as part of the Librarian Committee sessions. There are 4 Libraries in Kalahari Dessert as part of an FIS school supported project.
